Today, it got real. I opened my inbox and saw the words: Welcome to the Sports Backers Marathon Training Team. Just like that, my first marathon journey officially begins. 😳🏃🏽♀️
I’m feeling excited, a little nervous, and honestly… kind of amazed. This is something I’ve thought about for a long time, but now it’s actually happening. I’ve got my team assignment—shoutout to Team Crimson!—and I’m already trying to figure out what my training life is going to look like for the next five months.
The big decision right now? Whether I’m going to follow the 4-day or 5-day training plan. After taking a good, realistic look at my life (hello, mom life, work, summer travel, and just… life life), I’m leaning toward the 4-day plan. It feels doable, and I want this journey to be something I enjoy—not something I burn out on.
Here’s the wild part: if I stick to the 4-day plan, I’ll run 655 miles between now and November.
Let me say that again: 655 miles.
Who. Even. Am. I?!
My backup run day is Sunday (code name: Coca) in case life throws me a curveball during the week. I already know I’ll be missing the first long run because of an upcoming trip, but I’m excited to hit the ground running (literally) when I return and finally meet my teammates in person.
This is going to be a journey of sweat, growth, possibly some tears, and definitely a lot of snacks. But today, I’m celebrating this moment—this first step. Because even just saying it out loud feels huge:
I’m starting my marathon training.
Let’s go, THAT Mother Runner. 💪🏽❤️
